What I Wore this Week in Paris

Basically the Same Pair of Jeans 3 Different Ways

pantheon2

When I was shooting the outfits for this blogpost I unintentionally managed to wear the exact same pair of jeans in all three of my outfits…but can you really blame me? Light wash jeans are just so versatile for summer so for today’s post I’m going to show you three different looks I’ve been loving for this late summer weather.

Outfit Diary: What I Wore in Paris This Week

A Week of Parisian Outfits

edited4

It’s funny how the more time I spend in Paris the more people back home in Ireland comment on how french my look is becoming.

While I certainly don’t make any conscious effort to dress like a french girl, there are certain fashion rules that apply to Paris and that I have adopted in my look. Stepping out onto the streets here can feel nothing short of stepping out onto a movie set. The buildings that surround the cobblestones and arcades here are famous for being among the most beautiful architecture structures in the world, in the springtime the florists pay extra attention to put their most colourful flowers on display at their doorsteps and if you go out at the right time of day, the cafes and boulangeries greet your nostrils with the fresh smell of bread and hot coffee; but above all the city is home to many of the top fashion brands that the world has ever known from haute couture to prêt-à-porter. In a city as copious in culture as Paris it can often feel like many of the girls here dress accordingly to their heritage. Also when life gives you a movie set why wouldn’t you dress like a movie star?

When it comes to my own personal style, I’m all about attitude and self expression which is why often on our blog you’ll catch me wearing a lot of outfits that raise some eyebrows. However I can’t deny that living in Paris and absorbing the French culture has definitely had a heavy impact on my dress sense and the way I put my outfits together.

For today’s post I thought I would share with you guys some of the latest outfits that I have been loving to strut my stuff in around Paris be it for a casual day with friends or for a romantic date. Let’s begin!

Back To My Parisian Style Ft TOPSHOP

Back in Paris

pariscafe

2019 has just started for me in Paris and today I’m coming at you guys with another outfit that has some serious badass vibes. I guess my newfound style must be a side effect of the new year because whenever I have a lot of things coming my way in life, I always love to dress as fierce as possible so that I can take on new challenges with confidence.

I was so happy that when I was back home in Ireland for the holidays I got to pay a visit to the massive TopShop store on Stephen’s Green. I’m not gonna lie when I say that I’ve been building my wardrobe primarily from TopShop ever since I discovered it in secondary school and it’s a place I miss shopping in a lot since moving to Paris. Today’s outfit is all about two key components of the parisien outfit; simplicity and quality. Let’s begin!

Christmas Wishes from Paris

Christmas Time in Paris

xmas

Hello my lovelies! I hope you are all doing well and that you’ve all had/are having a lovely Christmas. Right now it’s St Stephen’s Day in Ireland which in our family and in many households is basically like a second Christmas where we eat turkey and ham, drink bottomless glasses of prosecco and eat as many sweets, chocolates and truffles as the eye can see.

As you probably know from my latest vlog, recently I went out to shoot this outfit in Paris before I left the city to return to Ireland for the new year. I know I’ve worn this jumper countless times on my blog but honestly, my love affair with the cashmere sweaters from Hades is never ending. Since 2018 begun I’ve slowly been moving away from fast fashion brands and shopping more for quality pieces that I know are going to last me a lifetime. Honestly I am obsessed with how festive these photos turned out and I can’t wait to share them with you in today’s post.

A Winter Coat How-To

OVERSIZED5

There are very few things that look better than comfort feels. With last year’s oversized coat trend easing it’s way back into 2018 and temperatures dropping all over, thick and cozy sounds just like the perfect solution to all of our greatest outerwear dilemmas. But how do you rock this look while still managing to nail the polished aesthetic of the Parisienne? By stealing it from your man of course.

The Last Days of Fall

November in Paris

IMG_1082.png

It’s hard to believe that my second autumn in Paris is almost over. Fall has always been my absolute favourite time of year and I’m always sorry to see it go once the winter weather starts to set in. It’s crazy how in the blink of an eye the season of pumpkin spice and colourful leaves is taken over by the darkness that winter brings.

In today’s post I’m enjoying what really feels like the end of the fall as I spend the golden hour in Les Jardins des Tuileries. This park will always be among my favourites in the Paris. If you come well equipped with a hot drink, it’s the perfect place to chill on a secluded bench away from the bustle of the city as you enjoy a bit of fresh air and with the Louvre and the Musée d’Orsay right beside the immense space and the Champs-Elysées not too far away, it’s always pretty surreal to hang out here because there’s always something spectacular to see.

How A Year in Paris Changed My Life Ft High Dive Apparel

Smooth Seas Don’t Make Good Sailors

highdive2

It’s been a little over a year now since I left my old life in Dublin in search of a new one in Paris. Being able to survive far away from home for such a long period of time and at such a young age is definitely something I feel very proud of doing.

Living abroad has taught me so many new things and has enabled me to overcome so many challenges that I never would have even been capable of imagining when I left Ireland as a naive twenty year-old. Today’s outfit is inspired by being able to adjust your sails to the waves life throws at you as well as the ways that living in Paris has changed my perspective on the world.

October Mon Amour

An Autumnal Outfit of The Day

la douleur exquise.png

Today was the first day in Paris where I could finally walk around comfortably wearing what is probably the softest sweater I have in my closet. Autumn is a time of year that makes me feel so nostalgic for starting back in school, celebrating my birthday with my friends and family and of course, Halloween. I love this season because it’s a beautiful feeling having these memories and being able to cosy up with your favourite knitwear, feeling completely protected from the cold by the fabric as I clasp a hot drink (or in my current case, a chai latte) in my hands.

This is a season that not only feeds my indulgence for the aesthetic of crispy gold leaves on the footpaths and everything pumpkin flavoured, but autumn is my favourite season in terms of style as well.

A Retreat to the South of France

A Few Days A La Campagne

IMG_1574

Earlier this week a friend of mine invited me to spend a few days in the countryside in the South of France. If you guys follow me on Instagram then you’ve probably seen a lot of the snaps I shared of my trip on my stories. After going through the photos since my return to Paris, I realise I had a lot more to share than I originally thought so today’s blogpost is all about sharing some vibes from the French countryside.

My Go-To Outfit In Paris Right Now

IMG_9555.jpeg

If you guys have seen my most recent post then you’d know that lately I have been completely and utterly enamoured by the adorable illustrations of Lorraine Sorlet, an independent illustrator here in Paris.

One of my top goals for 2018 when it came to our blog was to make more of an effort to support sustainable fashion brands as well as smaller artists, creators and designers. We live in a world where huge fashion franchises have a monopoly on what we wear and where we shop. This year I wanted to rebel against that. One of my all-time favourite places to do so when I go shopping is of course  Family Store UK, a Brighton-based boutique which is just an awesome place to shop for pins, patches, printed matter and apparel created by less well known labels.
