The Man Who Fell To Earth

BOWIE2

I guess this post is a bit redundant now that I’ve changed my blog name but I wanted to leave it up anyway just because it talks about David Bowie who is my ultimate fashion and music icon.

If you’ve been following for a while you’d know that the old name for the blog was LaDameWhoFellToEarth and I named that after the cult classic, The Man Who Fell to earth starring David Bowie.

For business reasons I had to change my name on every platform but if you’re interested in David Bowie and how he inspired me to create then do read on!

The Secret to Nailing Parisian Style

A Thing For Navy Blue

How To Be Parisian.png

When you think of the typical image of the Parisienne what picture usually comes to mind? The old saying goes that if a parisienne could leave the house clad in nothing but a Burberry trench coat her life would be complete and I have to admit… it’s not untrue. The trench coat is a piece as timeless as they come. Throw an eye back to any old movie set in Paris and you’re bound to see the fiercest of femme fatales wrapped in the most elegant of fabrics. The timelessness of the trench really got me thinking about how every Parisian woman, including each one of the friend’s I’ve made in the city has their own signature piece in their wardrobe.

Home For The Holidays (Wearing Hades Wool)

A Touch of Cashmere + How It Feels To Be Home

h.png

Here I am, back in my seaside town in Ireland for the holidays. I’ve taken a long pause from social media over the month of December and especially over the Christmas break where my time was largely spent catching up with friends and family. It’s crazy how quickly time has flown by. It really feels like just yesterday I was still in Paris, shooting outfits and filming my vlog about going home. Since making that video and landing home, it really feels like the time I spent in Ireland, opening presents with my family under the tree and sitting all around the kitchen table, eating countless turkey and ham dinners  and drinking bubbly  has gone by in the blink of an eye.

A Winter Coat How-To

OVERSIZED5

There are very few things that look better than comfort feels. With last year’s oversized coat trend easing it’s way back into 2018 and temperatures dropping all over, thick and cozy sounds just like the perfect solution to all of our greatest outerwear dilemmas. But how do you rock this look while still managing to nail the polished aesthetic of the Parisienne? By stealing it from your man of course.

Wearing Marzia’s Dress Part II

marzia.png

Hey everyone! Welcome back to another Parisian fashion post here on LaDameWhoFellToEarth.
Earlier in the month as I was scrolling through her website I noticed that the clothing line of one of my favourite YouTubers and fashion bloggers, Marzia, had gone on sale. Having always been quite inspired by her style and having previously coveted many of her unique creations from previous lines, I thought I would take the opportunity to nab something from the Amore line before it all sold out.
I’ve always been quite impressed by Marzia’s designs and if you’ve been on my blog for a while you guys probably know by now that one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe is the lace dress that she designed for her limone line. If you haven’t seen the post already and you are curious to see how that dress looks you can check the shoot out here.
As Marzia will soon be releasing yet another selection of her creations into the world I thought I would share with you a little review on this dress from her Amore line as well as the way I’ve been styling it lately.
The first thing I have to address of course when it comes to her designs is the price. Although her creations are all extremely beautiful and unique, they are rather expensive. I personally have been lucky enough to always get my size during the sales but at full price, I wouldn’t exactly call her clothing affordable, especially not on a student budget. However her clothing is ethically made which is important to take into account and the designs are like nothing you would find on the high street. Each time I unbox a new item from her collection I know from the very first touch of the fabric that these clothes are going to occupy a spot in my wardrobe for a very long time.

Where the Amore dress is concerned the first thing that struck me was how soft the material is. Lately the weather has been quite cool in Paris (don’t ask me where the summer went) so it’s the perfect dress to wear as you snuggle up with a hot coffee on a cosy café terrace. The material is soft without it being too thick so it’s a lovely breathable piece that is wearable during all seasons. The back of the dress has a very pretty, oversized gold zip which makes it a very detailed piece that is easy to slip on and off. The embroidery on the front is also elegant and understated but adds a unique allure to the outfit. The fact that it said « amore » really won my heart over when it came to choosing this dress. Being the Italian word for love, I feel like it captures a really charming aesthetic.
While this pinafore stands out quite a lot on it’s own thanks to its rich teal colour, today I wanted to add a little bit of extra intrigue by playing around with some contrast which is why I opted for a striped long sleeve paired with these spotty tights. Bringing together two opposing elements like spots and stripes can be hard to pull off but something subtle will always add something that little bit more unique to your look which is what I really love about this outfit.

A final note about Marzia’s clothing lines is that the sizing is quite generous. This is something I’ve noticed across each of her collections. If you love a more oversized look then it’s perfect, however if you are in any way a petite girl or you are more used to European sizing over UK and US sizing then I would probably recommend sizing down.
You can see in the photos that this is the XS on me but it’s still quite baggy.

And that’s it for this post. What do you guys think of the outfit? Are you excited for the release of Marzia’s new clothing line? Let me know in the comments below!
Thank you so much for reading and I’ll see you very soon,

Making Ethical Outfit Choices Through Investment Pieces

Fashion Revolution Week has just begun and the question “Who Made My Clothes?” is beginning to resonate within the minds of all influencers, instagrammers and consumers alike. When 2018 first began one of my main goals was to shop more ethically and support smaller fashion labels. While I’ve already talked about one of my favourite, more affordable ethically-made brands called Stay Home Club, today I wanted to feature something a little more high-end.

Stay Stylish on Paddy’s Day ft Pretty Little Thing

Going Green

pretty little thing.jpg

Hello my lovelies! Valentine’s Day has just passed and I hope you all had a lovely time, no matter what you did to celebrate. The next big event coming up in the year is of course St Patrick’s Day and as it is my first year away from home, I’m excited to see how the celebrations will go.

I dont know about you but for me personally, the very notion of sporting a festive outfit for Paddy’s day and being clad in so much green is enough to conjure the most darkest of childhood memories. From the frumpy school uniforms we all had to wear growing up in Ireland to the cringey leprechaun costumes that flood retail displays this time of year, there’s something about the thought of the color green that so often feels so off-putting.

But looking festive on a day that celebrates our unique culture all over the world isn’t just about sporting a cringey “kiss me I’m Irish” t-shirt in the Paddy’s Day parade.

Today on La Dame Who Fell to Earth, we’ve teamed up with prettylittlething.com to bring you two looks that are equally festive as they are stylish.

Love Yourself First

A Little Note on Self Love

love urself 6

Hello my lovelies! Happy Friday to you all. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, love is in the air here in Paris. And in light of that I wanted to share an outfit with you that was not only cute, sweet and elegant, but also the perfect ensemble for a special date with yourself, a loved one, or even an evening out with friends.

As with every year on Valentine’s Day, there comes the over-saturation of soppy couples on social media which often makes it so easy to feel down and out about not having an SO to celebrate with. It’s for this reason that I decided to devote today’s post entirely to self-love. Whether you may be in a relationship or not, self-love is such an important skill that has such a powerful influence over the way we live our lives.

However it’s something so many of us can so easily overlook and neglect to do. But what better time is there to appreciate who we are than on Valentine’s Day, right?

Here are my top tips for self-love as well as a little outfit for you. Let’s start!
