A Little Update After My Last Post
Not the best quality photo I know but I figured that I would come on here and let you guys know how I’m doing after my last blogpost where I was feeling mentally exhausted and just drained from my bad experiences in Paris.
I may live in Paris but the mystical world of Italian maximalism is something that has always deeply inspired me when it comes to igniting my love for all things fashion. Think designers like Alessandro Michele and Donatella Versace paired with a Renaissance-like frivolity and you’ve got yourself the perfect recipe for my inner fashionista’s dream come true.
Fashion for me is at it’s most awe-inspiring when it brings something unique and even sublime into the world as we know it. When I first discovered the whimsical designs of Vivetta Ponti, I immediately became utterly enamoured by the the surreal universe that she creates in each of her dreamy collections. The designer evokes all aspects of abstract art in her creations from impressionistic paintings to poetry and even the sentimental aesthetic of old Disney movies to name but a few. The fact that she has the power to bring such art into her designs is truly amazing and when I saw that one of her pieces was up for grabs recently on Depop, I just had to grab it and make it my own.
Today’s post is all about how I thrifted a designer coat and why it has such a special place in my heart being from one of my favourite designers.
Hello my lovelies! I hope you are all doing well and that you’ve all had/are having a lovely Christmas. Right now it’s St Stephen’s Day in Ireland which in our family and in many households is basically like a second Christmas where we eat turkey and ham, drink bottomless glasses of prosecco and eat as many sweets, chocolates and truffles as the eye can see.
As you probably know from my latest vlog, recently I went out to shoot this outfit in Paris before I left the city to return to Ireland for the new year. I know I’ve worn this jumper countless times on my blog but honestly, my love affair with the cashmere sweaters from Hades is never ending. Since 2018 begun I’ve slowly been moving away from fast fashion brands and shopping more for quality pieces that I know are going to last me a lifetime. Honestly I am obsessed with how festive these photos turned out and I can’t wait to share them with you in today’s post.
Today was by far my most insane moment since living in Paris. Never in a million years when I was packing my suitcase to leave my little country town in Ireland would I have imagined that I’d get the opportunity to work as a model in the fashion capital of the world.
It’s hard to believe that my second autumn in Paris is almost over. Fall has always been my absolute favourite time of year and I’m always sorry to see it go once the winter weather starts to set in. It’s crazy how in the blink of an eye the season of pumpkin spice and colourful leaves is taken over by the darkness that winter brings.
In today’s post I’m enjoying what really feels like the end of the fall as I spend the golden hour in Les Jardins des Tuileries. This park will always be among my favourites in the Paris. If you come well equipped with a hot drink, it’s the perfect place to chill on a secluded bench away from the bustle of the city as you enjoy a bit of fresh air and with the Louvre and the Musée d’Orsay right beside the immense space and the Champs-Elysées not too far away, it’s always pretty surreal to hang out here because there’s always something spectacular to see.
What is it exactly that comes to mind when you think of Paris? Before living here I used to dream about all of the clichés; champagne on the Champs-Elysées, riding a bike to the boulangerie and hanging out at Ladurée, sipping hot chocolate over a plate of macarons. But what a lot of people don’t know about Paris is that underneath the luxurious façade of the city there’s a thriving subculture of street style and grungy street art.
The 13th Arrondissement is one of my favourite places to experience this. Especially around the area of the Butte-aux-Cailles, one of the most hipster-friendly areas of the city and an unchartered territory for tourists.
Earlier this week a friend of mine invited me to spend a few days in the countryside in the South of France. If you guys follow me on Instagram then you’ve probably seen a lot of the snaps I shared of my trip on my stories. After going through the photos since my return to Paris, I realise I had a lot more to share than I originally thought so today’s blogpost is all about sharing some vibes from the French countryside.
If you guys have seen my most recent post then you’d know that lately I have been completely and utterly enamoured by the adorable illustrations of Lorraine Sorlet, an independent illustrator here in Paris.
One of my top goals for 2018 when it came to our blog was to make more of an effort to support sustainable fashion brands as well as smaller artists, creators and designers. We live in a world where huge fashion franchises have a monopoly on what we wear and where we shop. This year I wanted to rebel against that. One of my all-time favourite places to do so when I go shopping is of course Family Store UK, a Brighton-based boutique which is just an awesome place to shop for pins, patches, printed matter and apparel created by less well known labels.
This past week I have been absolutely dying to escape the bustle of Paris and head to the countryside for a couple of days. My cousin, Mairéad lives a quick train ride from Paris in the North of France so we decided to spend a few days together in a small, but very charming provincial city called Beauvais.

Today marks the start of the 7th month since I left Ireland to change my life and move to Paris. As I’m writing this post I’m wondering where on Earth does time go?
So much of my life has changed in what feels like such a short amount of time so today on LaDameWhoFellToEarth I wanted to look back on my time here in France since the beginning and share with you guys some of the life lessons I’ve learned here in one of the most beautiful and inspiring cities in the world.
