Basically a Boots Haul
Hey everyone! I hope you’re all doing well and that you’re having a lovely September so far.
When I was back in Ireland during the holidays last month it was pretty much a rite of passage for me to go to Boots and to see what they had. Since it doesn’t exist in France and we don’t always find the same products here, I always have so much fun browsing the rails for makeup and beauty bargains so today I’m super exited to share what I got with you!
Soap and Glory Anti-Redness Concealer
As a pale Irish girl with sensitive skin I’m always looking for products that can help conceal my red cheeks. Recently I finished my redness correcting primer by Makeup Forever and so when I came across a concealer that did a similar job from Soap and Glory for less than half the price I couldn’t say no to adding it to my daily routine.
I love how it’s in the form of a stick because it means that I can easily transport it in my bag without having to worry about it leaking.
The coverage also did not disappoint and it gave a very porcelain effect to my red cheeks. You guys can see in the photo how much the redness has been erased.
Collection Brown Kohl Eyeliner
For fall I playing up the warm tones and I feel like a brown eyeliner compliments the warm, autumnal look that I love to embrace at this time of year. This pencil was super cheap and I couldn’t be happier with it!
Rimmel 24 Hour Ultimate Liquid Eyeliner
The main reason why this liquid eyeliner won me over was because it was waterproof. As a contact lens user this is the first thing I have to look for in my makeup.
What surprised me the most about it though was the fact that the packaging is rather deceiving. I was expecting the classic thin brush dipped in black liquid but instead the applicator was in the form of a chunky marker. This isn’t a bad thing if you want to draw thick lines but because I liked to have a razor sharp wing I was a little disappointed because I knew it would be near impossible with a brush like this.
That being said though, I’ll still keep it in my handbag just incase I’m ever in need of an emergency touch up.
NYX Lingerie Liquid Lipstick
This lippie was a freebie from Boots and I honestly was not impressed with it. The shade is called Confidence and I honestly think that it’s made for a complexion that is darker than mine. It’s a shame that the colour isn’t for me so I’ll probably end up giving this to a friend instead.
Sleek Matte Me Liquid Lipstick
Now this lipstick was much more up my street than the NYX one. Anybody who follows any Irish blogger is probably well aware of all the hype around Sleek Makeup. Today I finally got the chance to apply it and I’m honestly pretty impressed. The formula is lightweight and velvety and it doesn’t give my lips that dry, sticky feeling which I was pretty happy about. The soft, rosy colour (Birthday Suit is the name of the shade) is quite muted and nude so it makes for a great shade for everyday wear.
l’Oreal Colour Riche Matte Lipstick
This lipstick has a really light and buttery texture with a matte finish. When I was in Boots they gave me the shade érotique to sample and I feel like it leaves a very natural haze on my lips. Because the texture is so creamy it is also non-drying and doesn’t end up in the cracks in my lips like how a lot of matte lipsticks do. My only regret is not getting a more intense colour. This shade is very similar to the Sleek one above except it has more of an orange undertone rather than a purple one.
Maybelline Great Lash Mascara
This is an extremely hyped mascara and one that really impressed me, especially because it was only €7.
Like I said above, wearing contact lenses makes choosing my eye makeup quite a stressful experience because I’m always terrified of it running whenever my eyes start to water throughout the day. So far this mascara has stuck with me all day without running at all. It’s nearly as good as any high end one I’ve used to be honest.
Overall it added great length to my eyelashes. It didn’t create a whole lot of volume compared to my Better Than Sex Mascara which has a very dark and thickening effect. For a daytime look though, the Maybelline Great Lash definitely wins it for me.
Garnier Moisture Bomb Mask
Finally I picked up this sheet mask because who doesn’t love a good old fashioned sheet mask? This one is infused with Pomegranate and it was super relaxing to use! It left my skin feeling soft and glowy which was just what I needed because after starting college, my face is starting to show signs of tiredness and stress. I always find that sheet masks help knock the dullness right out my face and reinvigorate it.
So that’s it for this little beauty haul. I really hope you guys enjoyed!
That’s all from me for now. Thank you so much for reading and I’ll see you very soon in our next post.
