The Perfect Place To Snoop in Paris
Notre-Dame and the square surrounding it may be inaccessible after the fire that happened in April but that doesn’t mean that you should skip out on visiting the quartier of Saint Michel next time you find yourself in Paris.
Not only is the Île de la Cité one of the most iconic places in Paris where you can find so many adorable cafés, crêperies and countless charming little side streets all throughout the neighbouring latin quarter, right across from the cathedral is the start of the famous Parisian bookstands or as the locals call them, Les Bouquinistes de Notre-Dame, an array of old fashioned and second hand bookstands selling so many souvenirs and keepsakes unique to the city of lights.
Just by snooping through what each little market has to offer, you can find some of the most interesting and unusual things from enamel pins to postcards, hardback editions of the great classics in french literature as well as vinyls, movie posters and so much more.
Each little bookstand has enough retro inventory to take you back in time and if you plan on following the path laid out by each stand at Les Bouquinistes, you can easily stroll all the way from The Notre-Dame Cathedral, down the Seine to the Pont Neuf opposite the Louvre so it’s perfect for enjoying all of the major sights of the city.
For any book lover this place is heaven on earth and even if you’re just a snooper with a love Paris who wants to collect the photographs, postcards and posters available there, browsing the bookstands is always a good idea.
Have you ever been to Paris before and did you stumble upon Les Bouquinistes? I’d love to hear all about it in the comments below!
That’s all from me for now. Thank you guys so much for reading and I’ll see you very soon!
