The Secret to Nailing Parisian Style

A Thing For Navy Blue

How To Be Parisian.png

When you think of the typical image of the Parisienne what picture usually comes to mind? The old saying goes that if a parisienne could leave the house clad in nothing but a Burberry trench coat her life would be complete and I have to admit… it’s not untrue. The trench coat is a piece as timeless as they come. Throw an eye back to any old movie set in Paris and you’re bound to see the fiercest of femme fatales wrapped in the most elegant of fabrics. The timelessness of the trench really got me thinking about how every Parisian woman, including each one of the friend’s I’ve made in the city has their own signature piece in their wardrobe.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about fashion in France it’s that it doesn’t matter if you spend a decade’s worth of salary on your closet or whether you flaunt the same pieces you’ve had since forever. When it comes to nailing Parisian style it’s all about finding that one item that makes you feel strong and owning your look in it.

Whether it may be something as timeless as a Chanel bag or the Burberry trench coat I mentioned above or even a pair of stilettos or a jumper with beautiful art craft in the fabric, nothing beats having a precious item in your closet and one that you can wear with everything.

Staple pieces play a huge role in the effortless chic of the Parisian girl. The true parisienne never opens her armoire and has nothing to wear because her signature items will always save her from the woes of this time consuming dilemma.

Recently this navy jumper from an independent french label that I discovered recently called Maison LaBiche has ticked all the boxes of what I like to bring in my outfits; comfort, a fit that looks like it could have been tailor-made for my body and high quality fabric. The fact that it is so snuggly and warm makes it perfect for the weather brought about by the March madness as well.

If you guys are up for supporting lesser known fashion brands and want to add a unique touch to your wardrobe then I would highly recommend checking out Maison LaBiche. I discovered them not so long ago when I was shopping in Paris and honestly I can’t get enough of their quality fabrics and the cute little french quotes embroidered on the garments. The one I’m wearing says, l’amour à la plage which literally means love at the beach. Seriously, isn’t that just so cute?

Let me know in the comments what you guys think of this look. Personally I am so happy with this purchase and I believe it’s one of the best I’ve made in a long long time.

Do you have any staple pieces or signature items that you couldn’t live without? Let me know in the comments below!

Thank you so much for reading and I’ll see you very soon in our next post!

♥️ the look and the insight into Parisian dressing. My dad is French, so I always believe to have one navy blue smart jacket with gold buttons (Amanda Beard) in your closet to complete a casual with classy look with jeans, or cigarette pants. xx
