Back in Paris
2019 has just started for me in Paris and today I’m coming at you guys with another outfit that has some serious badass vibes. I guess my newfound style must be a side effect of the new year because whenever I have a lot of things coming my way in life, I always love to dress as fierce as possible so that I can take on new challenges with confidence.
I was so happy that when I was back home in Ireland for the holidays I got to pay a visit to the massive TopShop store on Stephen’s Green. I’m not gonna lie when I say that I’ve been building my wardrobe primarily from TopShop ever since I discovered it in secondary school and it’s a place I miss shopping in a lot since moving to Paris. Today’s outfit is all about two key components of the parisien outfit; simplicity and quality. Let’s begin!
When it comes to fashion, the Parisienne will never skimp on versatile pieces nor the standard of her clothing. This is exactly why I fell head over heels for this leather skirt from TopShop. Not only does it bring such a cool girl vibe to the look, it also has so much detail between all the hardware look of the zips as well as the belt on top. (It’s just a pity that the pockets are fake otherwise it would have been perfect!) All in all, the material feels so thick and just like a real leather skirt. It’s definitely one of my favourite pieces to date and I can’t wait to come up with different ways to style it.
The suede jacket I’m wearing below is originally from Fiorucci. I may live in Paris but I will always have this thing for Italian fashion. Last year I managed to thrift this jacket on depopand I love the grungy biker look of it. It even has a hood and the lining shows a comic strip from a manga (see if you can spot it in the last photo of the post!)
It’s often that you’ll catch me hanging around the Île de la Cité in Paris. Everything about this quartier from it’s cosy cafés, quiet side streets and panoramic views over the Seine, not to mention Notre-Dame is just so inspiring. Whenever I come here I really feel so in tune with the city and just so lucky to be here. You bet that the first thing I did when I got off the metro was pop into one of these little cafés for a chocolat chaud! They just don’t make it the same anywhere else in the world and that’s a fact. If you’re into rich hot chocolate to warm you up on a cold winter day then you’d definitely love this area of Paris.
My favourite thing about this outfit is how perfectly it captures the essence of the parisienne. It’s edgy and comfortable and ideal for catching the eyes of passersby as you take shelter from the busy life of the city in the comfort of a heated terrace.
In case you guys haven’t noticed by now, I may have this thing with graphic t-shirts and logos that reveal mental states. I loved the sentiment of fickleness that this top expressed. (again from TopShop.) Plus, you can really never go wrong with the classic T-shirt and mini skirt combo. By the way, the biker boots I wore in this post from Missguided are on sale now here if you wanna nab them before they’re gone!
Would you guys wear this outfit yourselves? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
Also have you ever been to a Parisian café? How was it?
That’s all from me for now! Thank you guys so much for reading and I’ll see you very soon in my next post.
