Nailing that Fishnet Trend

Three Simple Ways to Style Your ‘Schnets

Hey! It’s Mew. Recently I have been seriously obsessing over the fishnet trend and with Spring finally here, I know that so many of you have really been loving this style too. It’s edgy and alluring and best of all, it’s the perfect way of embracing all our favourite 90’s trends.

Are you ready to see the looks? Let’s start!

Look One: The Slip Dress

Shades -Asos Available here

Boots -Dr Martens Available here

There can be no doubt that the slip dress trend strikes the perfect balance between elegant and casual when worn with a simple pair of fishnets and your favourite boots. While the concept of underwear as outerwear may appear daunting at first, trust a simple white t-shirt to carry you along your merry way as you embrace this charming 90’s-nostalgia look. Thanks to our trusty ‘shnets, this look is laid-back, cool and dark, but still breezy enough to wear for Spring.

Look Two: Distressed Denim

Wrap Dress -Pull&Bear Available here

Jeans -River Island Available here

Shades -Thrifted

Bag -Skinnydip (Similar)

Shoes -Daisy Street (Similar on Asos here)

If there’s a life lesson we can take from SS17 its that the more ripped the jeans, the better the fishnets are going to look. Here, I’m stepping up my denim game by adding some drama and allowing the tights to peak out of the rips and finally contrast with the open-front shoes at the feet. This is a great way of adding a little something extra to an outfit, plus it’s a really eye-catching and flattering look. (Especially when worn with the right shoes!)

Look Three: Night Out

Velvet Dress -Forever 21 Available here

Jacket -H&M (Similiar)

Shades -Thrifted

This look is perfect for an evening with friends or for an occasion where everyday tights just aren’t appropriate but bare legs don’t seem to work either. Fishnets are amazing for achieving  this balance while simultaneously adding some attitude to your look. A grungy oversized black jacket paired with some vintage-style sunnies embrace an alter-ego type of vibe while the crushed velvet in the a-line dress gives the 90’s a nod but with a modern twist. Accessorise with your fishnets and your sunnies (yes, even for a night out because you’re just that cool) and you’re good to go.

As usual links to absolutely everything shown are embedded in the text above. Thank you so much for reading and I can’t wait to see you again in my next post!
