Hello World!
Hey! It’s Mew. Recently I was tagged by one of my favourite travel blogs, cptlyne.com to do the travel tag. Seeing as how I love when other bloggers do tag posts and I’ve never done one before, of course I just had to jump at the opportunity! Are you ready to see some of my favourite places in the world? Let’s go!
What is your favourite place that you have visited?
For food and fashion I would be inclined to say Paris because it’s a city that really captured my heart… but if I had to choose one place to live out the rest of my life it would have to be Lake Como in Italy. People live such a laid-back type of lifestyle there and each way you turn there is one thing more instagram-worthy than the next. The way the light reflects on the water and shines over the Alps is just so breathtaking and there are so many quirky little cafes, restaurants and boutiques to visit that all have such a vintage-Italian feel to them which of course is really charming. My favourite thing about it though was the fact that each of the rustic little villages and cobbled towns at either side of the lake are just a short boat-ride away, meaning that there is so much to see and explore.
If you could visit anywhere tomorrow where would you go?
Definitely Tokyo Japan. I’ve always been really inspired by Japanese art, culture and fashion, so to somehow wake up in the morning and find myself in the centre of Tokyo would be an absolute dream come true! Visiting Harajuku and getting a first hand experience of the way of life there, not to mention the colourful street-style would make my world complete.
Would you rather go on a city holiday or a beach holiday?
You’d think that spending everyday of my life seeking shelter from Dublin’s rainy skies and bustling streets would make me want to retreat to somewhere open, quiet and beachy. But in all honesty, I love the buzz of being in a new city and immersing myself in the fast-paced lifestyle of a new place. I do well in cities because the possibilities of exploration are endless. I don’t know where I’d be if I couldn’t visit world-famous monuments, go crazy shopping and stop into the quirky little restaurants and cafes along the way. Cities just have such exciting experiences to offer.
My top three holiday essentials are…
My Camera ~If I could bring just one thing away with me, it would definitely be my camera. This is a must-have for me during a trip, not just for blogging but also so that I can keep the memories of my trip with me forever.
Flats ~ Would I ever be seen walking around Dublin in anything other than my classic heeled ankle boots? Lord no. But when it comes to walking long distances under the sweltering hot summer sun, anything beats foot cramps and blisters!
Suncream ~Factor 50+ is essential for this pale Irish face not only to prevent burning but also because it’s the best anti-aging cream you’ll ever come across (unlike the sun which is the culprit of all our wrinkly-woes!)
Are you an over packer or an under packer?
Definitely an over packer! Whenever I travel it’s like I get separation anxiety from my wardrobe so I like to bring as many of my favourite pieces as I can with me so I can keep my options as open as possible. My attitude towards packing is something I get a lot of flak for but I’d rather have a slightly heavier suitcase than a limited supply of dresses and handbags any day.
What is your favourite thing about going on holidays?
I love flying. The nervousness that comes with it, the sinking feeling you get in your stomach that comes with the thought of visiting somewhere new, not to mention the spectacular view outside the window. There’s something about being on a plane that fills me with such excitement.
Would you rather go on holidays with family or friends?
Nothing compares to the feeling of being young and going on an adventure. I think that being able to share that with friends is really special. It’s that kind of thing that you remember for your whole life so definitely holiday with friends.
What is the most adventurous dish you have ever tried from another country?
I tried escargot in Paris last year and I really loved them!
