Out of the Dark…
Deep cleansing, softening and nourishing, these three words pretty much sum up what the Lush Dark Angels cleanser has to offer. Powdered charcoal helps to remove dirt and toxins clogged deep beneath the skin’s surface, gently exfoliate (with the help of some black sugar) while simultaneously removing excess oils and sebum.
The idea of this cleanser was just so exciting to me -creating brighter, younger, livelier skin from something dark. Obviously then when I spotted this at lush, I couldn’t wait to try it out. Nevertheless, charcoal is known to be a well proven effective ingredient when it comes to drawing out bacteria, poisons, chemicals and other damaging micro-particles from the skin. Fundamentally its a magnet that removes all of the really deep-set crap from your pores. And the best part is that while the charcoal cleanses from the inside out, nourishing avocado oil in the mask helps to restore life, radiance and softness to dull skin.
Initially the thought of applying the dark matter directly to my skin was quite intimidating. I read some reviews online saying that the colour left some residue on some people’s skin, however setting my fears aside I braced myself to venture into the dark in the search of brighter skin.
And of course I was pleasantly surprised with the results.
The cleansing mask left no residue as only a tiny amount of product is needed to achieve the full affect of the charcoal.
Leaving this on for ten minutes before washing it off really helped to reduce redness and remove shine while exfoliating as I washed it off felt really gentle yet invigorating and really like my skin had just been cleaned from the inside out.
If you plan on using Lush Dark Angels then I would highly recommend applying your favourite face mask and moisturiser directly afterwards for extra hydration. It’s amazing the difference this little trick makes to the quality of your skin and I guarantee your complexion will be left feeling soft like a baby regardless of whether you use this on your face or body.
Overall, this cleanser is something I’ve really been obsessing over lately and with so many benefits to the skin, it’s easy to see why. For the price you pay, it’s more than worth it for the sheer quantity of product you get in the pot. Because this does exfoliate the skin, I wouldn’t advise using it on a daily basis, but using it a few times a week will leave your skin glowing and reduce visible signs of built-up oil and help combat acne.
