September Beauty Favourites

One of my favourite ways to get cosy in the autumn months is by staying inside during the cold evenings and giving my skin and hair some TLC. During the month of September I had the opportunity to test out some amazing beauty products. So let’s take a look at my favourites!

1.) Lush Retread Conditioner

You’ll probably notice that a lot of the things I loved this month are from Lush. But their masks really work wonders for me. Like I said before on my how to save damaged hair post, natural yoghurt and olive oil are the holy grail of strong, healthy hair.  And this conditioner contains just those ingredients along with so many other beneficial oils that lock in moisture to the hair follicle.

I used this as a deep conditioner about 40 minutes before I got into the shower and after the first half hour, I could already feel my hair becoming a lot smoother and softer. That said though, using this as a regular conditioner as well (like how it’s supposed to be applied) made my hair really silky and shiny when I dried it. There’s so much product in the pot as well that I can’t wait to use it all up and see how much better my hair will look at the end of the treatment!

2.) Lush Cinnamon Shampoo Bar

What I really love about this shampoo is just how rich and autumnal the aroma is. It’s enriched with peppermint and nettle leaves, cloves and a cinnamon stick which all combine to fill your bathroom with a festive infusion as well as increase the speed of the growth of your natural hair.

While the main aim of this shampoo is to stimulate hair growth, I haven’t been using it for long enough yet to see any serious results in that regard. I did however notice that my hair felt much cleaner and it looked a lot longer than usual too. The great thing about Lush is that their shampoos are natural, so they don’t contain any sulphates that would otherwise dry out your hair, which means your will always have an amazing hair day after using them. Hooray!

3.) Lush Don’t Look at Me Mask

A neon blue exfoliating mask infused with lemon to make your complexion appear almost as bright and radiant as the electric blue colour of the mask itself. For a person like me who has such sensitive skin, trying to exfoliate can often leave my face looking angry and aggravated. But I found this mask a lot more nourishing and moisturising. It hydrates your skin when you leave it on and then washes away dead skin cells as you rinse it off, leaving a really cool, refreshing feeling.  I really like to apply this mask in the morning, especially because the gentle burst of citrus coming from the lemon and grapefruit means that its really invigorating and overall, really pleasant to wake up feeling so fresh faced after applying this mask.

4.) Lush Rosy Cheeks

A rosy product has made it to the list of this month’s beauty favourites, except this one is an old reliable for anyone out there who suffers with red, sensitive skin, prone to irritation and flushing. (Especially during the winter months.) This clay mask feels so good when applied and is ideal for maintaining porcelain skin. I don’t think I’ll ever take it off my bathroom shelf because it is just so effective at banishing redness. Plus, the combination of calamine, rose petals and rose oil means that it smells just like laying down in a dreamy rose garden. I wish I could smell like this forever!

5.) Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil

I got this along with my asos haul a while back and have loved it ever since I first started testing it. The best way to describe this oil would be as an organic drink for your skin that protects and nourishes. Rosehip oil is renowned for being a natural acne and eczema treatment. And because it’s so rich in antioxidants and omega fatty acids, it offers powerful protection against fine lines, wrinkles, sun spots and acne scars.

I’m really happy with how my skin looks after having applied this everyday for a month now. After massaging it in at night, my skin always feels so much smoother and plumper in the morning, -like its natural elasticity has been restored, even after the most tiring of days. Even though this oil may feel rather greasy when you first put it on, the consistency is light enough to be absorbed into your skin slowly over time, leaving behind a rejuvenating and healthy glow. Because of course this is an oil, I’d recommend using it at night and then letting it soak in while you sleep. ^_^

6.) La Roche-Posay Rosaliac UV Riche Anti-Redness Moisturiser

My skin is always so red, no matter what season it may be. But it gets even worse as winter emerges. This moisturiser works so well for me when I apply it daily and nightly on a continuous basis. The green tint means that it nullifies redness and discolouration on the face while simultaneously eliminating any dull, dry or flaky winter skin. What’s good about this moisturiser is the fact that it contains SPF so you can be protected from the sun while you treat your redness. La Roche-Posay are definitely one of the most effective brands for my woefully sensitive skin and this moisturiser is such a vital part of my daily routine now. It’s amazing how quickly my cheeks get so flushed when I’m not using it!

7.) Organix Argan Oil Conditioner

I was instantly amazed by the texture of this conditioner. It feels so thick and rich when you pour it out of the bottle, which made me really excited to use it. The colour is a really shining bright gold which meant it left a beautiful iridescent shimmer on my hair after I had left it in for a while. Argan oil is so good for your hair because it contains vitamin E and antioxidants, so it’s the perfect conditioner for repairing breakage and helping to seal split ends. ^_^

8.) Organix Extra Penetrating Argan Oil

I genuinely believe that it was this oil that helped save my hair when it was damaged from bleach a few years ago. It helps get damaged hair back to normal by seeping down deep into the hair shaft to restore its natural lustre and shine. Having used this for a while now, I can honestly say that it really has transformed my burnt and broken mane into a thick head of long locks again. Over the past month, the ends of my hair were becoming a bit split and broken but this argan oil meant I didn’t have to cut it. If you’re one to use heat or dye your hair, or if it’s just a bit on the dry side, the this something I would definitely recommend. ^_^

So these were all of my favourites this month. I know this post went on for way too long but I just got so excited about everything and couldn’t wait to show you! Do you have any beauty favourites you’d like to share with me? Or any recommendations? I’d love to hear all about it in the comments below. Until then…
